Literature and architecture are linked by their quest to enrich the intellect and ethos of humanity. In “Architecture and Narrative“, Sophia Psarra (2009) points out the possibility of isomorphism between literary narrative and architectural space. Based on this theory, this project attempt to explore the relationship between literature and architectural space and the possibility of transforming literary works into a spatial experience. Three benefits of fantasy stories, according to Tolkien(1947), are Recovery, Escape, and Consolation. Therefore, this project takes “Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland” (Lewis Carroll, 1865) as an example, analyzes the spatial principles and plots, and designs an immersive exhibition on this basis. Its purpose is to use the multidimensional dimensions of architectural space as a narrative carrier, transforming the text of fairy tales into the space scene in the exhibition, thus creating a space full of imagination and unreal, providing a place for people to escape from reality. Second, it attempts to explore new ways of spatial perception and the factors that may change people’s spatial perception. At the same time, this project also studies the way of literary narrative as the principle of organizing space.

I conducted case analysis and simulation experiments on the spatial principles and narrative methods in Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland. Then, through the analysis of literary narrative cases, the fragmented narrative is transformed into a space structure. Finally, the contents of Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland are extracted and transformed into space scenes in the exhibition.

Through these practices, it can be concluded that fairy tales have a rich potential to be materialized into an architectural experience and that a multi-sensory approach can help visitors to better interpret the stories. In a fragmented spatial organization based on choice, the visitor is given more freedom of choice and the visitor may experience the feeling of being lost and can ultimately have their own unique journey.
